About
TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas—usually in the form of short, powerful talks delivered by leading thinkers and doers. TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment, and Design converged, and today covers almost every topic imaginable in more than 100 languages.

In the spirit of TED’s mission, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks videos and live speakers spark deep discussion and connection.

TEDxArgyleSt is Halifax’s independently organized TEDx event. Our 2025 theme—“Rooted in Resilience: Inspired by the Bluenoser Spirit”—celebrates the strength, innovation, and community that define Nova Scotia. From overcoming historic challenges to leading bold change in science, business, and culture, Halifax continues to inspire ideas worth spreading.

Whether you’ve lived here for generations or have recently found your way to this coast, TEDxArgyleSt invites you to explore what it means to be shaped by this place—and how the Bluenose spirit can guide us toward a more resilient future.
Our Volunteers
TEDxArgyleSt wouldn’t be possible without the incredible dedication of our volunteers. Your passion, energy, and commitment help bring big ideas to life and build a stronger, more connected community. Thank you for being the heart behind the experience.
